| Enid Holm, author of Theatrically Speaking: A guide to operations for the nonprofit arts organization and former Executive Director of Texas Nonprofit Theatres, died early on Tuesday morning, August 22, 2006, in Odessa. Enid Holm was a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Drama. She was managing director of the Permian Playhouse of Odessa from 1965-1977, during which time the present facility was built, equipped and paid for. She was owner/operator of the Mansion Dinner Theatre, Inc., an Equity theatre from 1977-1979. She designed and promoted the Mansion, directed sixteen productions there and had more than one hundred productions to her credit. She served as a Board member of the Southwest Theatre Association, now Southwest Theatre and Film Association, for six years, as President for two years as well as serving on the Executive Committee of the American Association of Community Theatre. She was a member of the AACT College of Fellows, and was past chairman of the College of Fellows, SWTFA. During her fifteen years (1980-1995) as Executive Director of Texas Nonprofit Theatres, she traveled thousands of miles throughout Texas, helping theatres develop their managerial skills. Her life's work culminated in the writing of her book, Theatrically Speaking, and she donated 75% of the proceeds from the sales of her book to the organizations she loved. |
