TNT Purpose

TNT was founded in 1971. Its purposes are:

  • to promote high standards in theatre arts.
  • to continue to provide professional training and development for individuals involved in theatre.
  • to promote the development of educational theatre.
  • to provide a forum for the exchange of information and ideas by persons engaged in theatre.
  • to aid and encourage the formation of new theatre groups and support established theatre organizations.
  • to provide information and advocacy for the needs of theatres in Texas within the limits of the law.
Texas Nonprofit Theatres, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt orgnization governed by a volunteer Board of Governors. Board volunteers are recruited from across the state and elected by the TNT Membership at the Annual Meeting held during the State Conference, generally in March or April.
Membership in TNT is open to anyone interested in its purposes and services. Classes of membership include: Regular - individual, organization and industry; Contributing - individual, organizationa and industry; Student - college/university level; and Youth - high school and under (non voting). Memberships are good for a period of one year or any portion thereof upon payment of dues designated. The membership year runs from January 1 through December 31.
