SHOW TITLE: Gooney
Bird Greene and Her True Life Adventures
APPROPRIATE AGES: All
RATING: G
SUMMARY: From
Dramatic Publishing, Inc.: Summer has come
to a crashing halt in the little town of Watertower. The kids don't want to be
back in school; they are listless and bored. Suddenly, the classroom door
bursts open and there, wearing pajamas and cowboy boots, stands red-headed
Gooney Bird Greene! "Hi! My name is Gooney Bird Greene—that's like
the color with a silent 'e' on the end and I like to be smack in the middle of
everything!" The class is never the same again. Gooney Bird speaks with
confidence and dresses in outrageous outfits including Capri pants, blue knee
socks, high-topped basketball sneakers, and elbow-length black gloves. But most
wondrous of all, she casts herself as the hero in the most improbable,
outlandish stories: how she arrived from China on a flying carpet, how she got
a lovely pair of diamond earrings at the local palace, how she directed a
symphony orchestra while driving through the center of town, and how her
beloved cat, Catman, was consumed by a cow! Are these stories really true? Of
course they are because, as Gooney Bird proudly proclaims, she only tells
"absolutely true stories!" In blending funny and memorable characters
with colorful details and her distinctive flair for suspense, Gooney Bird
awakens the students' dormant imaginations. They come to realize their lives
are as unique as Gooney Bird's and that they, too, can cast themselves as the
heroes in their own true tales of discovery and adventure.
SUMMARY: From
Dramatic Publishing, Inc.: Over 15,000
Jewish children passed through Terezin, and only about a hundred were still
alive when Terezin was liberated at the end of the war. One of the survivors,
Raja, having lived through it all, teaching the children when there was nothing
to teach with, helping to give them hope when there was little enough reason
for hope, creating a little world of laughter, of flowers and butterflies
behind the barbed wire, tells the true story of the children. It's her play and
it's theirs. There were no butterflies at Terezin, of course, but for the
children, butterflies became a symbol of defiance, making it possible for them
to live on and play happily while waiting to be transported.

SHOW TITLE: Clowns'
Play
APPROPRIATE AGES: All
RATING: G
SUMMARY: From
Dramatic Publishing, Inc.: "Show
Today" and "Jack and the Beanstalk" read two signs placed at the
proscenium on the otherwise bare stage. Clown ushers escort the young people to
their seats in anticipation of a performance of the age-old classic. But it's
time for the show and the group that was supposed to present the play has phoned
to say that their van has broken down and they are not going to make it. The
clown ushers gather on stage to decide what to do. Should they send the
audience home? With the help of the youngsters, they decide to act out the
story themselves using their clown characters as the basis for their
improvisation of "Jack and the Beanstalk." Utilizing what they can
find backstage, asking for help from the audience when they get stuck, and
capitalizing on the unique talents of each of the clowns, they play out the
story, discovering thereby the meaning of being a clown.

peach! An imprisoned boy! Insect friends! An incredible journey! This amazing
adventure of James Henry Trotter will fulfill the fantasy of anyone who has
ever dreamed of escape. Roald Dahl's story comes hilariously to life in this
delightful dramatization that reveals the wickedness of some, the goodness of

Old-Green-Grasshopper and the pessimistic Earthworm. You will also see James'
mean Aunt Spiker and cruel Aunt Sponge come to a suitably sticky end. The action
is tied together by the Narrator, a storyteller, motivator, emcee and audience
friend. Take advantage of the quick costuming, simple props and basic scenery

SHOW TITLE: Ralph
Roister Doister
APPROPRIATE AGES: All
RATING:G
SUMMARY: From
I.E. Clark Publishing: This 1-act version
of the oldest play in English is hilarious. Ralph thinks he is a lady's man and
chooses Dame Custance as the lady. But she can't stand the conceited
nincompoop. Their tempestuous courtship, complicated by a mischievous meddler
and Custance's cute servant-girls, rocks the stage in this historically
important play.
Ralph, printed by Nicholas Udall
in 1566, is considered the oldest play in English. Similar to earlier Roman
comedies, the setting is the space between two houses, and the main character
is a wealthy but not-so-bright hero prodded by a wise but not-so-wealthy
parasite.

Roosevelt and William Howard Taft are elementary school students hauled into
the principal's office for unruly behavior. West Wing Follies is a hysterical, non-partisan look at our fearless

their idiosyncrasies.
