The state of Texas and Texas Nonprofit Theatres is blessed to have some truly outstanding people and organizations creating and supporting theatre. Over the years, many have been honored with awards - click the links to find the list. If you know someone deserving of recognition, please consider nominating them for an award. Refer to the criteria listed below for the award when preparing your nomination. Please be specific in listing activities that you feel qualifies the nominee for the award. Also be specific regarding length of involvement, such as "since 1985" or "for 19 years," rather than "a long-time volunteer." In your description, please distinguish between volunteer service and career activities for which the nominee may have been paid.

  • OVATION AWARD: An individual who has maintained steadfast service, support or achieved some outstanding accomplishment in relation to work with Texas Nonprofit Theatres.
  • STEADFAST SUPPORT AWARD: (Organization) outstanding support for TNT from a theatre.
  • SPOTLIGHT AWARD: (Individual or Organization) - development and/or outstanding nurturing of theatre in Texas
  • CORPORATE ARTS AWARD: special service or assistance by a business or company for theatres in Texas.
  • TNT DYNAMITE AWARD: where needed for others that may not be in the above categories Example: theatre who has entered Festival since inception, hosting theatre, touring and outreach, technical assistance.
  • STAR CERTIFICATE: For theatre volunteers who have been honored by your theatre and have received every award possible. Take their recognition to the state level.
  • FRONT OF HOUSE AWARD: Do you have an extraordinary volunteer or staff member who has contributed untold hours in your box office, grant writing, planning parties, or just sweeping the lobby? This award is for you to recognize someone who has made a significant contribution to your theatre.
  • BACKSTAGE AWARD: Like the Front of House Award, this award recognizes someone who has worked tirelessly in your backstage areas - building props, painting scenery, running lights, stage managing. This could be a volunteer or a staff member who has performed above and beyond the job description.
  • ONSTAGE AWARD: Yes, all of your performers are amazing - but is there one that stood out this past year? Jumped in to fill a slot for an injured cast member? Performed in spite of a sprained ankle? Blew away the audience with a particularly poignant rendition of Memories? Let them know how much you appreciate their talent and dedication!

Special Award: Texas Playwriting Hall of Fame

Texas Nonprofit Theatres created the Texas Playwriting Hall of Fame in 2012 to honor Texas playwrights and theatres that create and produce new works or have a achieved a notable body of work. Honorees are inducted during the TNT Annual Conference on even numbered years. Nominations for the fourth class of inductees will open in the Fall of 2017 for induction in 2018. Deadline for nominations is January 31, 2018.
