Submissions for TNT POPS! 2018 are now closed. Thank you to all who submitted.

TNT’s Production of Original PlayS (POPS) takes place every two years. The submission dates for the 2018 TNT POPS! New Play Project were September 1st through 30, 2017. Each play selected will be produced during the 2018-19 season, either on a mainstage or in a second space, by a TNT member theatre company.

TNT accepted one hundred (100) full length scripts on a first come, first served basis, submitted between the dates listed above. Please read the Rules and Submission Process carefully. The selected plays will be announced on Saturday, March 17, 2018 during the TNT Annual Conference.

TNT POPS! New Works Project operates using a 3 Round Anonymous Reading model. No reader in any level knows the name of the author of the piece. 

For the 2018-19 TNT POPS! New Play Project, 30 readers have been selected for Round 1 - Readers are listed below. These theatre professionals have been selected because of their experience reading new works for other new works contests / projects and their extensive theatrical knowledge.

Tracy Alexander is the Production Secretary for the McLaren Memorial Comedy Writing Competition at Midland Community Theatre for the past 20 years, she is also a playwright for the yearly SUMMER MUMMERS melodrama and currently serves on the Texas Nonprofit Theatres, Inc. Board of Governors as the President. 

DeAnna Hargrove has been the Managing director for Tyler Civic Theatre for the last 18 years and has been an Artistic Director, Playwright and Theatre Educator. 

Cathy O’Neal has been involved in theatre in the Dallas / Fort Worth metroplex since 1995 and is an Actors’ Equity Association Stage Manager. She is a writer and communications director for the Levitt Pavilion for the Performing Arts in Arlington, TX which produces 50 free concerts a year, the perfect blend of writing, arts and stage managing. 

Mandy Rausch is co-chair of Denton Community Theatre’s “Method and Madness” New Play Competition and Festival, a position she has held for 3 years. Several of the shows she has directed are original scripts and some are area premieres. She has a degree in Engiish and spent 6 years as a copyeditor and currently works in PR/Marketing and Outreach.

TNT POPS! Submission Thumbnail Overview

Scripts Accepted: Between Friday, September 1 and midnight CDT on Saturday, September 30, 2017. Scripts received before or after these dates will not be accepted.

Number of copies: Emailed only (no hard copies accepted)- One (1) Microsoft Word file or pdf file; 

Limit: 1 script per playwright. Previously submitted plays may not be resubmitted.

Length: Full Length

     * The script includes set requirements.

     * The script includes a cast list.

     * The script includes brief character description(s).

     * The script does NOT contain playwright name and/or contact information. This information should be on the submission form only.

Type Size: 12 pt Times New Roman or 12 pt Courier. 

Format: Standard Stage Format. Final Draft format is acceptable - but must be saved and sent as a PDF file.

Topic or theme: Open

Cost: Submission Fee - $25. TNT individual members receive priority placement in the event that more than 100 scripts have been received by the deadline.
